Last year I started a notebook for collage and drawing. I called it a ‘daily’ notebook, knowing I wouldn’t manage to do it every day, like the “30-day yoga challenge” that I’ve been doing since November. But it is a good project. I try to be relaxed and remember it’s just a sketchbook for me to screw around in. I do find it hard not to shoot for something worth keeping. And then I curse myself for not getting a notebook with perforated pages.
Anyway! This is my new website, and this is the blog. There’s no way I’ll be blogging like I did in the heyday of The Rain in my Purse, which I’ll be retiring, but I hope to show up. In a draft stage, this page was called ‘News.’ How much news can a person have, though? If I stop in to write about some wonderful thing I ate, is it news? I know the word ‘blog’ is ugly and wonky, but there you have it.
Thanks to Jenni B. Baker, who designed the site and helped me work out the kinks. If you’re like me and don’t have the time and stamina to get through setting up a site by yourself, I recommend her! I owe more to Jenni than this site, however, since she’s one of the people who introduced me to found poetry.

What?!? I get to be the 1st Comment on the Great SJ Sloat’s New Website?!?
Love the new website Ms Sloat. I’ll be back to visit soon and many, I’m sure.
Thanks Ron., and thanks for commenting.
Sarah,
The new website is lovely.
It’s good to see you back in blogging action.
I left a comment in the “Contact” section – hadn’t finished exploring. So here it is again:
Love the look of your new site (not Blog).
Hope you leave the old purse up so I can gaze on the found poems.
Thanks for commenting!
Maybe I should put more on the Portfolio page? Or maybe I should make a longer catalog in Publications?
Jenni did a beautiful job. Honored to have my two videos included on the portfolio page with so much stunning work. Also, of course, erasure poetry FTW.
